Our Verdict

At just over 900g, the Ducan 22 feels light on the back but still offers enough structure for a stable, balanced carry. The reworked air space back system is a clear standout — it keeps the pack sitting away from your back for better airflow, which I appreciated during warm climbs. The padded hip belt and shoulder straps provide a close, comfortable fit without hotspots, even when the pack is fully loaded.

Storage is simple but smart. A large front stretch pocket easily accommodates wet layers or bulkier items, and the side mesh pockets are just the right size for bottles or trail food. The hip belt has a single secure pocket, and there’s a stash spot up front with a key clip. I’m always glad to see proper shoulder strap pockets — ideal for soft flasks, a phone, or a bar, all within easy reach. The included rain cover is neatly integrated and easy to deploy when needed.
