Our Verdict

The recycled poly ripstop shell holds up well against the usual knocks of airport trolleys and overhead bins, and the wheels handle cobbled streets better than I expected. The layout is straightforward — no fuss, just functional — with a decent main compartment, compression straps, and a handy front section that fits my laptop without making the whole bag feel bulky.

I like that it stays within strict airline size limits while giving enough room for five or six days of travel if I pack smart. It doesn’t feel overly techy or overbuilt, which I appreciate. I would tweak the expansion zip — useful, but it can throw off the bag’s balance if you’re rushing through tight gate queues.

For minimalist travel without sacrificing organisation or durability, the Expanse carries its weight.
