Our Verdict

The Vargo Titanium Fire Box Grill 2.0 is a neatly engineered bit of kit that packs down as flat as a map and sets up in seconds. At 207g, it’s a smart option when weight matters, but you still want the satisfaction of a wood-fired cook-up at camp. The folding titanium frame feels solid and stable, and the updated design slots together smoothly with minimal faff.

It thrives on dry twigs or small offcuts, perfect if you’re stopping somewhere with known fire access and good fuel. Heat builds gradually but holds well once established, making it good for small cuts of meat or boiling water, although it might not be my go-to option if I were in a rush for my morning coffee. The grill surface is just enough for solo or duo use. 

I wouldn’t reach for this on a multiday through-hike or in questionable fire zones, but for overnighters or remote bothy stays, it’s a nice option.
