Our Verdict

The Montane Volantis 7in Shorts are a well-balanced blend of trail readiness and minimalist design. At 133g (medium), the GRANITE Stretch Nano fabric adds just enough structure to handle scrambling. The four-way stretch and gusseted crotch mean they move naturally whether you’re hiking or clambering..

I’ve found the waistband sits flat and stays put, with internal adjustment that keeps things tidy. Storage is subtle but effective—two concealed hand pockets with YKK zips keep things secure. The bonded hems are nice, giving a clean finish that feels good against bare legs.
